ADD AN AWESOME 3D SPHERE TO YOU XLIGHTS LAYOUT!

Creating a sphere model or the matrix model as it is more commonly known can be as easy as having a piece of cake especially if you know where to look.

From right-clicking your xLights screen, and selecting the Node Layout to launch the designated page (defaulted as a horizontal matrix which can be easily interpreted), to other basic features, this video has all you need to know to get your awesome sphere model designs up and running in xLights.

Learn practical tips about:

• Starting at the bottom, all the way to the top.
• The default settings
• The number of strings equals the total number of ports that are plugged into the controller.

You will also understand how:

• Each time you see different colors in the Node Layout, you are actually looking at the separate outputs on a controller.
• A string equals outputs; the number of strings per controller

Understand how to distinguish the horizontal sphere models from the verticals, as well as how to interpret or modify the data:

• Strings equal output
• How many nodes per string
• Sphere models with more or fewer matrix models in 3D…

You will also learn basic concepts such as the number of nodes per string, strands per string and how to configure the pixels, output and other basic parameters. So much to earn in this short and insightful video

WANT TO ADD ARCHES INTO YOUR LAYOUT? HERE IS HOW TO DO IT QUICKLY AND EASILY

The Arches of Light is certainly one of those pretty cool features that you’ve got to learn how to build in xLights... Or at least have a baseline knowledge of how to get around it.

In this video, you will learn some amazing tips and tricks about the archers; how you can create artistic styles and effects with your props.

Very easily, the tool can be activated by clicking the Arch Model Icon… It's so simple; what-you-see-is-what-you-get -- nothing crazy, fancy or complicated.

Clicking on the icon launches the perfectly round half-circle at 180°. In addition, the tool gives you the perfect flexibility to edit the arch (height and width) by raising or decreasing its values.

If, for instance, you're trying to place archers up your driveway and you want to have that nice perfect look of the arches or perhaps create a second one. You can easily do so by using your PC’s default copy-and-paste function (Ctrl-C/Ctrl-V in Windows). These and more in this insightful tips and tricks video series.

PRACTICAL TIPS ON HOW YOU CAN EASILY BUILD A PIXEL MEGA TREE IN XLIGHTS!

Understanding the model of the mega tree or building one can either be very easy or challenging, depending on your level of expertise -- which is why we have included the video in the Layout Creation series. Of course, it's gonna sound a lot like the matrix videos if you haven't watched those but we have added a little bit more of the same information. However, the idea behind all of this information is to really get you the ground information, and equip you with the required skill set, step-by-step so that you can build your own mega tree if you are so inclined to do so.

Explore options such as changing your megatree parameters using xLights’ variety of shortcut tools; the 180°, 360°, 2D, 3D, and other special effects.

Pretty straight to the point; nice and simple! You will learn the basics of building your mega tree the way you need it built and you easily connect it to your controller the way that it needs to be connected.

SIMPLE TRICKS ON HOW TO BUILD A MATRIX THAT WILL BE PLACED HORIZONTALLY

Follow the processes contained in this video to set up your horizontal matrix model in xLights!

Natively matrices are built horizontally; from left to right in xLights for a reason --- because of the way they are configured; left to right.

In this video, we have highlighted the native matrix configuration of a 16 nodes tall by 50 nodes wide layout. That is, 16 strings of 50 pixels. Typically, the configuration is such that you would  notice pairs of blue and green lines; each segmentation indicating the standard connection to the pixel controller.

A pretty insightful video walk-through that shows you exactly how you can set up your matrices in a very professional manner. In essence, you would have the outputs numbered one, two, three and so on... for the 16 output controller.

Although we have done things a little bit differently here, the overall idea is such that would increase your proficiency a great deal.

THE VERTICAL MATRIX DIY MODEL

In this video, you will learn practical tips on how you can easily build vertical matrices in xLights. The focus of this video and the very next (Horizontal Matrix) are specifically on matrices because matrices hold the key to some of the biggest things that you can do with your display.

Of course, you can have great outlines for your roof, great icicles, spinners and all kinds of cool stuff but one of the things you may not be considering is the vertical lines that connect the ground up to the top of your display -- which is where vertical matrix comes into play.

So If you're going to add a lot of great looks to your display, investing in matrices is certainly one of the best banks for your bucks.

Getting started…

Typically, we've got the horizontal matrix set up as default, but for the purpose of our focus, here (Vertical Matrix), we're gonna change this to a vertical matrix by reconfiguring or changing the orientation to vertical so that it matches what the required purpose.
