Color Pallets for Everyone!

PPD is aware of the challenges some folks have with their vision. Some of the PPD staff members need a bit of help when sequencing so we created a few specific color pallets which are easy to identify. Instructions are below:

Close out of xLights on your computer

Download the PPD Color pallet zipfile (link below)

Unzip the folder.

Copy and paste the files from the unzipped folder into your xLights directory's PALLET folder.
(you may need to change the names of some of the pallets so you do not overwrite yours)

Open xLights, and open a sequence

Verify the pallets loaded by viewing them in the drop-down window located in the Color dialog window

Setting Display Brightness

SMART DISPLAY SETTINGS
This is a quick tip on how you easily, and, of course, conveniently set the brightness of your
display.
In previous editions, we had to go into the Falcon controller setup page on the string ports. And
set the individual brightness per output on the controller. We could say it was easy, but it was
definitely time-consuming.
Imagine that you had 48 ports on a controller. You would literally need to go through each port
on the controller to set the brightness.
With Xlights dimming curve functionality you could easily go and click on the individual model,
to edit your brightness in percentage values. So at 50 percent, you're showing a negative 50.
Your shows are running at 50 percent, 60 40; 70, 30; 80, 20, and so forth.
But if you had a large display, it was very time consuming to go through and click on each
individual demand curve. Well, now you can highlight your entire show or just a model group.
And once you highlight it all, you right-click on the highlighted area and you click the dimming
curve. And then in a demand curve, you can set this to whatever brightness that you like.

August Webinar Second Session: Running LOR Controllers on LOR network via xLights

August second session is now available to view. We covered some questions asked in the groups. Also we reviewed the new enhanced LOR data protocol that was added in February 2018. Your standard AC and Pixie controllers are now supported by xLights. Also, there is no need to place your AC controllers into DMX and build a cross over cable. The new LOR enhanced network will work with your controllers, without any of the old hassle.

At the end of January, we conducted the monthly webinar. This premier edition of the PPD Webinar discusses all of the different models you can create with xLights version 2018.3. As a PPD Matrix Member, this content is now available for you to view by logging in to your account.

The seminar has been edited into 5 parts. The videos run from 20 to 30 minutes in length, so this will give you a chance to sit back and watch it at your leisure. We hope will find this series helpful when you begin adding new models into your xLights layout. There are a lot of options for building models in xLights and we’ve only scratched the surface.

I Saw Stars Dancing on the Water Pipe Broke???

I had a video I wanted to upload last summer but never got around to it. I have received a number of emails this year, as well as seen people asking questions on how to build a star model in Xlights 4. I found the old video, but quickly realized it needed updated thanks to the awesome developers at Xlights! So, I finished it up and added the upload today.

On another note, I woke up to a backed up toilet which had been leaking down on my tenants closet in the hallway 🙁 yuck! Down to the basement to investigate and found a broken pip UGH!!!! So today is a day to repair the plumbing... Yay 🙁 Not!
